Selected work

Building structures that continue to perform

My work spans industry, international organisations, standardization and technology. The common thread is not a particular sector or format. It is the ability to turn complex expertise, dispersed activities and competing interests into an organisation with direction, ownership and measurable results.

Building a global capability ecosystem

Technical qualification connected to everyday engineering practice.

Situation

Learning, qualification and expert knowledge were distributed across regions, teams and local structures. The opportunity was to connect them through a shared strategy and operating model while remaining close to customers and business needs.

Mandate

Build and lead a global academy structure connecting technical qualification, onboarding, commercial training and digital learning.

Contribution

  • Connected three international teams, 50 training centres and more than 100 experts across 33 countries.
  • Established portfolio steering, quality standards, governance and KPI-based management.
  • Developed a hybrid learning and certification platform with 25 programmes launched in nine months.
  • Aligned HR, technical functions, sales, regions and expert communities.
  • Advised the corporate organisation on skills architecture, job families and governance during a global HCM transformation.

Impact

  • CHF 1.5 million in annual process and quality efficiencies.
  • A connected global operating model with clearer standards and regional delivery.
  • A commercial training and certification offer for customers.
  • Organisational transformation
  • Operating models
  • Digital platforms
  • Portfolio governance
  • International leadership

Turning global expertise into a scalable service

Screenshot of the IEC Academy online learning portal.
A structured service portfolio built on international expert knowledge.

Situation

The IEC works through an international network of national committees, industry experts, authorities and technical communities. Valuable knowledge existed across that network but needed a coherent service model, portfolio and delivery structure.

Mandate

Build an international academy and capacity-building function that could translate expert knowledge into relevant, repeatable and accessible programmes.

Contribution

  • Created and led the IEC Academy and Capacity Building function.
  • Built governance, quality standards and scalable in-person, hybrid and online delivery models.
  • Developed qualification, certification and commercial training formats.
  • Created and led international trainer, expert and institutional partner networks.
  • Led regional strategy and senior stakeholder engagement in the Middle East.
  • Represented the organisation with governments, industry, academia, regulators and national standards bodies.

Impact

  • Scaled annual participation from approximately 1,000 to more than 60,000.
  • Established a visible international service function for IEC members and stakeholders.
  • Created new commercial services and repeatable global delivery structures.
  • Organisation building
  • Knowledge products
  • Governance
  • Institutional positioning
  • Stakeholder alignment

DIN and GAEB · 2001–2007

Modernising national processes and electronic procurement

Participants gathered at an international professional event.
Alignment across ministries, associations, committees and users.

Situation

National standardization and public procurement require technical precision, formal governance and agreement among government, industry, associations, committees and users.

Mandate

Modernise standardization workflows at DIN and lead the federal GAEB coordination office for electronic procurement in construction.

Contribution

  • Introduced Business Process Management and workflow-based governance in cooperation with the University of Potsdam.
  • Designed and improved organisation-wide standardization workflows and process structures.
  • Introduced ARIS-based process documentation.
  • Led the national rollout of standardized electronic tendering processes.
  • Coordinated the German Ministry, construction-sector associations, software providers, committees and public users.
  • Served as an EU mid-term expert supporting Poland and Jordan on European quality infrastructure and standardization processes.

Impact

  • Created clearer, repeatable processes and connected technical standards with public-sector requirements and practical digital implementation.
  • Process modernisation
  • Public-sector governance
  • Digital implementation
  • Committee leadership
  • European standardization

ISO · 2007–2011

Building capability across countries and cultures

Common quality and governance, locally relevant delivery.

Situation

National standards organisations operated in very different institutional, economic and cultural contexts. International programmes therefore needed common quality and governance while remaining locally relevant.

Mandate

Design and deliver international capacity-building and knowledge-transfer programmes across the ISO member network.

Contribution

  • Developed and rolled out programmes in more than 40 countries.
  • Connected committee governance, stakeholder needs and practical implementation.
  • Created reusable delivery models for in-person, hybrid and online formats.
  • Established quality, governance and compliance principles across programme lifecycles.
  • International programmes
  • Cross-cultural leadership
  • Governance
  • Scalable delivery

Earlier foundations

Technology and entrepreneurship from the beginning

My interest in transformation began with digital design and construction technology. At Arcvision, I was responsible for the German version of a CAD product, translating market needs into requirements for developers and presenting the product to customers and partners. I later helped build a technology venture focused on digital project and facility management.

Those early roles established a pattern that has continued throughout my career: understand the user, connect business and technology, and build something that works in practice.
